
BRUCE KRASE 2007 - 2008 PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR Bruce Krase, Remington Middle School Principal, was selected as the Kansas Middle School Principal of the year for 2007-2008. RMS is located in Whitewater, Kansas and serves grades five through eight. USD 206 has an enrollment of about 540 students. Mr. Krase earned his Bachelor of Elementary Education Degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas in 1975. He earned a Master of Education Degree from Wichita State University in 1982 and finished his administration course work from WSU in 1991. Mr. Krase began his teaching and coaching career in Hesston, Kansas. He taught math at Hesston Middle School for four years from 1975-1979. He taught math at Hesston High School from 1979-2000. During his stay at Hesston, he served as the boy’s head basketball coach for 17 years and also coached football and track for several years. Bruce Krase began his administrative career as the principal of Remington Middle School in Whitewater in August of 2000. He is currently serving his eighth year in that position. Mr. Krase has served as a middle/junior high school representative on the KSHSAA Board of Directors for the past three years. He also served as District 6 KAMSA Representative for the past four years. RMS achieved the Standard of Excellence in 7th grade for both math and reading, in 8th grade for both math and reading, and school-wide reading in the spring of 2006. During the 2006-07 school year, RMS achieved Standard of Excellence in grades six, seven and eight in both math, reading and school-wide reading. "Our staff does an excellent job of preparing students with the necessary skills and tools that they will need beyond their middle school years. I am very proud of the staff and students of Remington Middle School," Krase stated. Bruce and his wife Denise have four grown children, Nick, Luke, Kelli Alli and one grandson, Drew. MARY WRIGHT 2007 - 2008 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR Mary Wright, an Assistant Principal at Junction City Middle School, has been selected as the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrator's 2007-08 "Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year." Miss Wright earned her Bachelor of Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 1988. After completing her degree she began teaching 6th grade in her hometown at Grandview Elementary. In 1990 USD 475 implemented the middle school concept and she transferred to Junction City Middle School and taught 7th grade math, science and social studies. Wanting to be more involved with students one on one she decided to go back to school and pursue a master's degree in Counseling. After completing her degree in 1992 she was given the opportunity to take a new position at the middle school as Coordinator of Student Services. In this position her role was conflict mediation and student discipline. While in this position she became more involved with the administration side of education and completed her administrator's certification in 1995.
